BLUE: HEALTH CARE EMERGENCY REQUIRING IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE

1. Assess “victim”:  Check for responsiveness or unresponsiveness with/without obvious injury

a. Victim responsive with/without obvious injury (First Responder)

b) Victim unresponsive with/without obvious injury (First Responder)

Inside Health Centre / immediate vicinity.

Outside SHS Sites or Community Venue

Inside Health Centre / immediate vicinity

Outside SHS Sites or Community Venue

  1. Yell for help.
  2. Do visual check for injuries.
  3. Perform First Aid, if needed.
  4. Call “CODE BLUE“ giving specific location repeating slowly & clearly 3 times using Page Button on right side of telephone console or dial 501 or
  5. Tell 2nd Responder to Call Code Blue & to return to scene to help, as needed.       * Reception calls (403) 932-2222 to alert Emergency Services as per instructions of responders or Emergency Response Coordinator, as needed
  6. Stay in place until help arrives.
  7. Keep area clear.
  8. Stabilize & transport to nearest hospital, if necessary.

  4. Call EMS (403) 932-2222 or tell 2nd responder to call EMS.
  5. Stay in place until help arrives.
  6. Keep area clear.
  7. Stabilize & transport to nearest hospital, if necessary.

  4. Do visual check of airway.
  5. Begin CPR. *For infants & children under puberty: Do CPR for 2 minutes & then call Code. 
  6. Apply AED pads & follow AED instructions until EMS arrives.
  7. Keep area clear
  8. Stabilize & transport to nearest hospital.
  1. Yell for help.
  2. Call EMS (403) 932-2222  or tell 2nd Responder to call EMS.)    
  3. Do visual check of airway.
  4. Begin CPR.              *For infants & children under puberty: Do CPR for 2 minutes & then call Code.    
  5. Send 2nd Responder to get AED and return to site. (See site floor plan for AED locations)
  6. Apply AED pads & follow AED instructions until EMS arrives
  7. Keep area clear.
  8. Stabilize & transport to nearest hospital.
